The Baldwin shooting investigation focuses on the custody of guns-News

[ad_1]

The police investigation into the fatal shooting of actor Alec Baldwin with a prop gun in the movie set focused on the experts in charge of the weapon and the assistant director who handed it over to Baldwin.

Ukrainian-born 42-year-old photographer Halyna Hutchins was shot in the chest in New Mexico shortly after the incident on Thursday and died, while the 48-year-old director Joel Souza stood behind her while they were lining up to shoot, was hospitalized with injuries, and then released.

The police interviewed Baldwin, who was obviously upset. He was happy to cooperate, but did not raise any charges.

This incident shocked many people in Hollywood and other areas, and sparked strong speculation. Although detailed gun safety agreements were formulated for the movie set, the incident on the set of the 19th-century western film “Rusted” was such an accident. How it happened.

According to the affidavit for obtaining a search warrant submitted by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office, the gun that was supposed to be loaded with blank bullets fired live ammunition. Agence France-Presse reviewed the affidavit.

It said that assistant director Dave Halls, who was identified as the person who handed the gun to Baldwin during rehearsal, yelled “cold gun” when he did so-the industry code indicated that the weapon had only one Blank charge.

The affidavit said: “The assistant director (Dave Hols) did not know that there was live ammunition in the prop gun when he handed it to Baldwin.”

It said the police wanted to determine whether there were any video clips or cell phone images that could reveal the incident; to check the “Western” clothing worn by Baldwin with obvious blood stains on it; and to check all guns, ammunition and cartridge cases at the scene.

It said Baldwin handed the gun to the 24-year-old Hannah Gutierrez-Reid-the weapon master or armorer of the movie-immediately after the shooting. When they arrived, she took out a used shell and Both were handed over to the deputy.

Then immediately called 911 to report to the police, conveying the shock and anger at the scene.

“Two of us were accidentally shot by a prop gun; we need immediate help,” the caller told the police dispatcher.

“Are there real bullets in it?” the dispatcher asked.

“I don’t—I can’t tell you,” the caller replied. “And this (expletive) ad… This mother (expletive)-he should check the gun, he is responsible for what happened on the set.”

The Actors’ Equity Association team’s detailed gun safety guidelines stipulate that “all loading of guns must be done by property managers, ordnance dealers, or experienced people working under their direct supervision.”

The guidelines also point out: “Before each use, make sure that the gun has been tested on the stage, and then ask to test it yourself. Observe the prop master to check the gas cylinder and barrel to ensure that no foreign objects or fake bullets become living inside.”

Baldwin, one of Hollywood’s most famous actors, said he is fully cooperating with the investigation. He reposted an article in the trade magazine Variety with the headline “Alec Baldwin was told that the prop gun was safe before the fatal shot, the affidavit said.”

Gutierrez-Reed (Gutierrez-Reed) is the daughter of Thell Reed (Thell Reed), an armor trader who has been in the film industry for a long time.

In the September podcast, she said that she was a little bit upset about being the chief armorer of the previous movie “Old Road,” another western film starring Nicholas Cage.

“I barely accepted this job because I’m not sure if I’m ready,” she said on the “Voice of the West” podcast. She added that loading blanks made her particularly nervous.

Hols and Gutierrez-Reid could not be immediately reached for comment.

District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said in a statement on Friday that the case is at an early stage, adding: “At this time, we don’t know whether charges will be filed.”

The Los Angeles Times quoted an anonymous source as saying that before the fatal accident, there were at least three fires in the prop gun, and some crew members protested against this and other working conditions.

It said that at least one camera operator had sent a message to the production manager, saying: “We have now had three accidental discharges. This is very unsafe.”

Rust Movie Productions said in a statement that it has not been notified of any “official complaints” but will “continue to cooperate with the Santa Fe authorities.”

It said it is also conducting an internal review.

Baldwin’s co-producer “Rust” is being shot at the vast Bonanza Creek ranch in the foothills of northern New Mexico, which has been used as a location for dozens of movies.

Baldwin plays Harland Rust. He is a lawbreaker. After his grandson was convicted of murder for accidental murder, he fled with his grandson.
