Educators say they are testing students’ comprehension, reasoning and analysis skills, not just “recalling”

Before the final board exam scheduled for mid-November, CBSE schools across the UAE have already started pre-board exams.

The Central Commission for Secondary Education (CBSE) of India shared Schedule of 10th and 12th grade exam dates, Both can be downloaded from the official website. CBSE has previously announced that the board examinations for the two grades will be divided into two semesters.

The first semester will include objective issues, while the second semester will be subjective issues. Each exam covers 50% of the courses.

Muhammad Ali Kotakulam, the principal of Dubai Gulf Indian High School, said the prefabricated courses are scheduled to start on Sunday.

“When preparing for the exams for students, they need to answer the new process of MCQ in the OMR form manually and by filling in bubbles. Students are basically happy to be exposed to different types of assessment practices,” he said.

The board exam for Gulf Indian High School is expected to start on November 15th, with the main subjects starting on November 24th.

“Students’ own school will become the test center. An external observer appointed by the CBSE will supervise the test. The encrypted test papers sent to the school will be printed by the school. The board test will be conducted in offline mode only and the OMR form needs to be on the same day The school itself evaluates and uploads the scores to the CBSE,” he said.

The first semester exam will last 90 minutes, while the second semester exam scheduled for March to April 2022 will last 120 minutes.

Bushra Mansoor, Principal of Springdales School in Dubai, said: “We have already started our second prefabricated board, and correctly expect the final board to start in mid-November. Starting from mid-November for minor subjects, our assessment roadmap is very accurate. “

Students are being tested for their comprehension, reasoning, and analysis skills, not just “recalling.”

“An MCQ with reasons and assertions needs to focus on and test students’ ability to confidently assess their knowledge. The multiple sample papers and webinars set up by the CBSE train teachers to guide students accordingly,” she said.

Although the new test format is an extension of the model followed by the standardized test method, Mansour said: “We currently do not face any obstacles, but the fluency and rigor of the CBSE website must be impeccable during the test period so that the school can provide Download the paper and upload the score within the specified time frame. I believe CBSE will deal with this situation as they did during the last academic score review.”
