Cricket: India and Pakistan lock their horns at the T20 World Cup | Cricket News

[ad_1]

On Sunday, the two sides will meet for the eighth time at the Cricket World Cup. India has won all seven games.

Pakistan and India launched their 2021 T20 World Cup event in Dubai on Sunday. This is the first time the two sides have faced each other since the 2019 World Cup was held in Manchester more than two years ago.

It was disturbed by rain at the crowded Old Trafford Stadium, which ended in a regular victory for the Indian team.

But on Sunday, a completely different environment-from gloomy Manchester to dry and sunny Dubai-awaits the eighth meeting of the two sides in the T20 cricket match.

As expected, the game tickets were sold out within a few hours after they went on sale.

Past champions of the T20 World Cup, 2007: India, 2009: Pakistan, 2010: England, 2014: Sri Lanka and West Indies, won twice in 2012 and 2016.

Both sides won a match. In 2007, India defeated Pakistan in the final to win the championship.

Pakistan achieved better results in the 2009 game, beating Sri Lanka at Lord’s and winning the first Cricket World Cup since 1992.

Head to head

Pakistan has never beaten India in any cricket World Cup-in 50 games, India has a 7-0 record and in T20 it is 5-0.

India, led by Virat Kohli, also had an excellent T20 record against Pakistan, winning six of the seven games.

Favorites?

Given the record, India is starting to become a hot spot.

Indian players have an additional advantage in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL), which was moved to the United Arab Emirates due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, in the 10 years when Pakistan was unable to host international cricket matches, they played all “home” games in the UAE, achieved good results and rose to the top in the test rankings.

Pakistan also won 21 of 36 T20 matches in the UAE.

The most recent T20 record

Pakistan participated in the game after the series against New Zealand and England was cancelled.

A few minutes before the start of the first game, the New Zealander withdrew from the tour to Pakistan. Three days later, England cancelled their tour.

Prior to this, three of their four T20s in the West Indies were caught in the rain.

At the same time, India has won 5 of the past 10 T20 matches, and the Indian domestic T20 Championship IPL ended a few days before the start of the first round of the T20 World Cup.

What are the captains talking about?

Willat Colley“We have never discussed these things, about our records and past performance. These things can be distracting. What matters is how we prepare and execute on a particular day, regardless of objections.

“Pakistan is a very strong team and has always been a strong team. You have to use your best cricket against them because they have a lot of talent and players who can change the game.”

Babar Azam: “Records are used to break. To be honest, the past is beyond our ability. We want to use our abilities and confidence on the day of the game and strive to achieve better results.

“The match between Pakistan and India is always fierce, so we need to perform well in all three divisions of the match.”
