UAE passenger flights from 16 countries are still suspended: GCAA-News

[ad_1]

The decision was announced in a new security decision notice issued on Sunday.

The General Civil Aviation Administration (GCAA) said on Sunday that inbound passenger travel from a total of 16 countries to the UAE will continue to be suspended until further notice.

These countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Indonesia, Liberia, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Uganda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and Zambia.

In a new security decision notice issued on Sunday, July 18 (a copy was seen by Khaleej Times), the authorities maintained the status quo of previously issued travel restrictions.

In addition, the GCAA prohibits all UAE nationals (except diplomats and people with medical emergencies) from traveling to these countries.

The notice said: “The current development of the Covid-19 pandemic has led to the implementation of new flight and passenger restrictions in the UAE. The UAE government is closely monitoring the situation and will provide further updates and instructions when necessary.”

GCAA stated that the notice was issued to “coordinating flight and passenger restrictions between all the aforementioned countries.”

The notice reiterated several travel agreements previously issued, including only allowing entry for UAE citizens, diplomats, and gold and silver residence visa holders.

Since April and May this year, inbound travel to South Asian countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka has been suspended. Since January this year, South Africa has suspended travel.

Thousands of UAE expats stranded in these countries are desperately waiting to return to work and families.
