Roommates, we are still praying for Jelani Day’s family because they are looking for answers about his tragic death. The details of Gerani’s case have been unclear, but the coroner finally revealed the cause of his death.
According to CNN, LaSalle County Coroner Richard Ploch announced that Gerani died of drowning. However, he added that there are no new details about how Gerani’s body eventually flowed into the Illinois River.
As we reported earlier, Gerani Festival The last appearance was on the campus of Illinois State University on August 24. His body was found floating in the Illinois River on September 4, raising various questions about the days before his death.
Unfortunately, the coroner Ploch pointed out that the forensic examination of Jelani’s body was inconclusive because his body had decomposed.
“There is no evidence of any (pre-death) injury, such as manual strangulation, assault or quarrel, sharp, blunt gunshot wounds, infections, tumors, natural diseases, congenital abnormalities or severe drug poisoning,” Ploch found.
Jelani’s family pointed out that two autopsies had been performed on his body, and the results were “contradictory.” Jelani’s mother, Carmen Bolden Day, stated that she disagrees with the coroner’s report and believes that others are responsible for his death.
“That’s what my son did to himself. He didn’t,” she said at a meeting of the Black Student Union in Illinois. “Someone has done this to him, and they will be responsible for what they have done to my son.”
We will keep you informed of the investigation results of this case and more information, roommate.
