Covid-19: This Eid al-Fitr makes safety a national responsibility of the UAE-News

[ad_1]

The health authorities have urged residents to continue to exercise caution.

For Muslims around the world, Eid al-Fitr celebrations have become a low-key event for the fourth time in a row. As on the past three occasions, we call on UAE residents to take Covid safety as a national responsibility.

Although the country’s Covid-19 cases have been steadily declining since the sudden surge last month, the health care department has urged residents to remain cautious. On Monday, the UAE reported 1,508 new coronavirus cases, the lowest level in a few weeks.

Several Muslim medical staff in the UAE will be on duty during Eid al-Fitr. In fact, for many people, this is the fourth Eid al-Fitr in a row.

Dr. Saba Iqbal Awan, a general practitioner at Burjeel Hospital in Dubai, said: “Although I work on this Eid al-Fitr, I decided that during my lunch time, I will order a special meal to commemorate this day. After all, it’s Eid al-Fitr. I am a little envious of those who are resting today.”

The official spokesperson of the UAE Health Department, Dr. Farida Al Hosani, recently revealed that in the past few celebrations, the number of Covid cases and deaths in the UAE has soared-after Eid al-Fitr last year, the number of daily infections increased by 500%.

In view of this, major government authorities and regulatory agencies have urged residents to be extra careful and maintain social distancing. Covid-19 is still a long way from our rearview mirrors. The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee stated that the elderly and people with chronic diseases must avoid going out as much as possible.

“Avoid physical gatherings and choose to interact with friends and family members virtually; avoid gatherings in public or private places,” government authorities said. The Dubai Health Department, Dubai Police and other government departments have also issued similar agreements.

Covid safety is a national responsibility. The sooner we flatten the curve, the sooner we can return to life before the pandemic. For our own benefit, let us have a happy but safe Eid al Adha this year.
