MMA and UFC legend Khabib’The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov swooped in before the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship to support the UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team, which will be held at the Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Arena from November 3 to 11 .
Elite athletes in the UAE have been working hard in closed training camps, preparing to welcome the best athletes in the world, in order to win more championship medals and the last chance to participate in the World Games in the United States next year.
In the recent Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championships, the home team topped the medal standings and gained confidence from Habib in time. Habib is arguably the best MMA and UFC athlete ever.
“I wish the UAE national team good luck at the World Championships. Guys, let’s go, I’m with you.” said the Russian nicknamed “Eagle”, who was at UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi last October. Retired from the UFC after facing Justin Gaethje’s lightweight title.
“Good luck to everyone practicing Jiu-Jitsu in the UAE. This is great for you and the next generation. Young people are the future. I think they will get better. They are a completely different generation because they will start from the UAE. Benefit from what is happening now. This will have a positive effect on their mind and body.”
The UAE National Team will have 58 athletes participating in the Jiu-Jitsu World Championships. The men’s group includes 12 adults; 12 youths; 16 athletes under 18 and 18 athletes in the under-16 category. In the women’s event, the UAE is represented by 53 athletes: 12 in the adult category; 9 in the under 21 category; 16 in the under 18 category and 16 in the under 16 category.
