Etihad Airways announced the appointment of Dr. Nadia Bastaki as Chief Human Resources, Organization Development and Asset Management Officer, becoming the first female head in the history of the United Arab Emirates National Airlines.
Prior to this, Dr. Bastaki has served as an important member of the human resources leadership team since 2014, as the vice president of medical services, responsible for leading the aviation medical center and ensuring the overall health and well-being of employees, as well as promoting diversity and Etihad Airways Inclusiveness and Corporate Social Responsibility Program.
Dr. Bastaki joined the national airline in 2007, becoming the first woman specializing in aviation medicine in the UAE, and played a key role in developing the Etihad Aviation Medical Center into a leading aviation medical center in the region.

During the pandemic, Dr. Bastaki played a central role in overseeing the health and safety response of airlines to global crises and in direct coordination with the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Administration, the Civil Aviation Administration and SEHA.

Dr. Bastaki has nearly 20 years of experience in the industry and holds a Master of Occupational Medicine from the University of Manchester and a Diploma in Aviation Medicine from King’s College London. In addition to assuming the new chief position, Dr. Bastaki will continue to provide comprehensive clinical leadership for the Etihad Aviation Medical Center.
