Dogs and cats can now travel with you in the cabin of the Etihad

[ad_1]

Collect those air meows…

We are not kittens. You and your red setter can now become the jet setter of Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates.

The airline has updated the “paws” in its pet travel policy, officially allowing “trained service animals” and falcons (because of the UAE) to stay in the cabin with their travel partners, and now includes cats and dogs in the air cabin zoo .

Other pet types are still allowed, but must be transported as cargo. Including any snakes, you may wish to bring them on the plane.

how much does it cost?

In economy class, your shepherd dog (and other dogs and cats) will only cost US$150 (approximately 550 dirhams) to board the plane, and the flight time is 6 hours or less. For each flying cat or a mile-high boi, flying over 6 hours will cost you USD 250 (Dh918). If you are transiting, the combined price will apply. You can also buy seats for them, this must be done in advance (we recommend calling directly to book).

Dogs and cats traveling in business class or first class must purchase seats for them. What they will do with a fully loaded entertainment system that we don’t know. But at least they will be able to press their paws.

You need to check the entry requirements (pet passport, vaccinations, etc.) of your travel destination in advance.

To set up a plane for your pet, you need to complete and send Animal form on board At least 72 hours before flight departure.

Pets on e-kennel-my (sorry, for the sake of clarity-this is “economical”) will have to stay in the travel bracket under the accompanying passenger seat (if they fit). If they are more like a “dumb”, you will have to buy a seat for them.

The size of a pet travel bag or kennel must not exceed 40 x 40 x 22 cm (length x width x height) to be placed under the economy class seat. If you have purchased adjacent seats, these dimensions can be increased to 50 x 43 x 50 cm.

Checklist before boarding

Etihad Airways has released the following checklist of boarding pets.

  • Before travelling with animals in the cabin, please make sure:
  • You have checked all immigration regulations of the country/region you are flying to and departing from
  • Have completed all applicable veterinary inspections or treatments
  • You have asked your veterinarian about any medications you may need to give your pet during the trip
  • All official documents needed to travel with pets
  • You have registered your pet for boarding within 72 hours before flight departure and have received a pet acceptance confirmation
  • Your pet is familiar with travel bags or kennels
  • You have a wire and a suitable strap or collar available
  • Dry pet food in a sealed container in your carry-on luggage
  • To keep your pet calm while flying, we recommend putting blankets, old clothes or pets’ favorite toys in a travel bag or kennel

Falcon

As mentioned above, the Falcon is also allowed to enter the cabin.

They can travel for free as part of their carry-on baggage allowance or as checked baggage for US$500 (Dh1,836) per cage.
