RTA opens a 4-lane bridge connecting Al Manama and Al Meydan streets – Dubai Blog

[ad_1]

The Dubai Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) opened a new bridge on Saturday, connecting Al Manama and Al Meydan streets across Dubai-Al Ain Road. The RTA accordingly eliminated the previous roundabout and adjusted the sloped end of the existing bridge on Al Meydan Street.

The bridge is 328 meters long and has 4 lanes in each direction. The diagonal end span of the bridge is 400 meters, and the two-way capacity of the bridge is 16,000 vehicles per hour.

“The new bridge is part of the Dubai-Al Ain road improvement project currently under construction by RTA. The scope of the project includes the construction of six major intersections, which will range from the intersection with the UAE highway to the intersection of Bu Kadra and Ras Al Khor. Within kilometers, widen the road in each direction from 3 lanes to 6 lanes,” said Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the RTA Executive Board.

He said that the project includes marking the traffic lanes at the intersection of Al Manama Street and Dubai Al Ain Road, and constructing a 4 land bridge in each direction to connect Al Meydan and Al Manama Streets, and to provide services for the development of Meydan. The intersection will improve traffic safety and ease the traffic flow at the intersection during peak hours.

RTA has completed 85% of the Dubai-Al Ain highway improvement project; RTA is currently one of the largest infrastructure projects undertaken. After the completion of the project, it is expected to benefit approximately 1.5 million people, improve traffic flow, and improve connections with Ras Al Khor Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road.

“It will also serve existing and future development projects on both sides of the Dubai-Al Ain Road, and increase the road capacity in each direction from 6,000 to 12,000. The road transport time at the intersection has been reduced from 16 minutes to 8 minutes, which will ease the rant of about 2 kilometers in the past,” he added.
