According to a statement from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Abu Dhabi will host a six-day performance for the 15th FINA World Swimming Championships from December 16 to 21, welcoming the world’s best swimmers to participate .
The game will be held in the iconic Etihad Arena, which will be transformed into a 25m temporary swimming pool. In addition, the water sports festival will now be held concurrently with the FINA World Swimming Championships (25 meters), and FINA will add three more events (diving, high diving and open water).
Yas Island will host the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) and the FINA High Jump Qualifying Tournament, the ultimate stage of the FINA/CNSG Marathon World Swimming Series 2021, a new open water swimming medley relay and international swimming United diving team exhibition.
The FINA Advanced Diving Competition will be the last qualifying match of the 19th FINA World Championships and is scheduled to be held in Fukuoka (JPN) in May 2022.
At the same time, the FINA Diving Team Exhibition will host a mixed team competition, which will alternate diving from a 3m springboard and a 10m platform.
The final stop of the FINA/CNSG Marathon World Swimming Series annual tour will see participants complete the 10 km race, and the innovative hybrid relay will be staged for the first time in history. In the mixed relay, four participants (two men and two women) from each team will challenge to complete a 1500-meter swim, totaling 6 kilometers.
As new competitions are added to the already dynamic swimming schedule, this event will represent a true water sports celebration in the center of Yas Island.
Following the successful holding in Dubai in 2010, the United Arab Emirates will host this prestigious short-term course presentation for the second time, while Hangzhou (CHN) and Windsor (CAN) held the first two sessions in 2018 and 2016 respectively.
