From December 5th…
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that after a negative PCR test, the validity period of the Alhosn Green Pass will be shortened.
For those who are fully vaccinated (those who are required to receive the Sinopharm vaccine for the third booster injection six months later), after the PCR test is negative, you will receive a 30-day green pass.
However, as of Sunday, December 5, the validity period of the Green Pass has been shortened to 14 days. There is no specific update for people with a valid, medically approved exemption in the Alhosn app, which means that the validity window of the green pass may stay in the current 7 days.
The Alhosn Green Pass is currently essential for access to almost all public places in Abu Dhabi, including shopping malls, hotels, gyms, restaurants, shops and beaches. The only exceptions are some supermarkets and pharmacies.
This is of course a preemptive move to mitigate any potential increase in risks brought about by the new variants. As the tournament season reaches its climax, the UAE has reported its first Omicron mutation. Preemptive measures are the most meaningful.
Activity update
Earlier this week, we reported on the Ministry of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi (DCT-Abu Dhabi) Changes in activity rules and requirements.
For indoor activities, this includes but is not limited to
- The activity capacity shall not exceed 80% of the maximum capacity of the venue.
- Visitors can now enter the event if they get a negative PCR test within 48 hours. No green pass is required.
For outdoor activities
- Valid green passes, EDE scans and masks are still mandatory
- However, there are no requirements for PCR testing or upper capacity limits.
As of December 2, 2021, there will be no changes to this policy.
