Young aspiring swimmer training with Olympic champion Florian Wilbrook at the Etihad Arena

[ad_1]

Aspiring young swimmers will enjoy the chance of a German swimming competition on Friday As the 2021 FINA World Swimming Championships continues in Abu Dhabi, Olympic champion Florian Wellbrock has joined the fun of a unique training clinic in the Etihad Arena.

Wellbrock is the second athlete in history to win medals in both Olympic swimming and marathon swimming. The German won the sprint race in the open water 10km race on Thursday and is preparing for the weekend pool race. He met with young athletes from Soul Sport’s local swimming club and took training courses to improve them. The skills are in a specially constructed warm-up pool in the iconic Etihad Arena.

After the meeting, Florian said: “This is where it all started, so this will be the future. It’s important to show them how we can do this. The kids here today are only 6 years old-I was about the same time. I started my swimming trip. Some people asked me if I wanted to be an Olympic champion, so it was a crazy feeling.”

“So far, it has been a great experience here in Abu Dhabi. I like the challenge of competing in open water and short-term events. The game in Tokyo felt great when I won, and the game in Abu Dhabi was similar. , But it’s not that easy. Yesterday I did a great job on the last lap. This is the key to winning the game.”

At the end of the course, young swimmers were able to try one of the most difficult moves in the pool—rolling—Florian watched by the side for support. 9-year-old Jayden said: “It’s really great. I’ve never done a turn before, so especially in the presence of Olympic champion Florian Wellbrock. The movement feels really good.”

The exciting swimming clinic is organized in cooperation with the national health insurance company Dammam and the UAE Swimming Federation. On the eve of the tournament, many seminars were held in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and the entire community was free to attend, with a total of more than 4,000 participants.

#International Swimming Federation World Swimming Championship tickets can still be used in multiple categories, including individual preliminaries (starting from 10 dirhams), individual finals (starting from 25 dirhams) and preExclusive package for all races (from AED 150). The family package is also applicable to two adults and two children under the age of 16, starting at Dh50 for individual events and Dh500 for all competitions.
