Last year, the UAE Cabinet also approved a national sustainable agricultural system to increase farm efficiency and self-sufficiency, increase average farm income by 10% each year, increase agricultural labor force by 5% each year, and reduce water consumption for quantitative irrigation.
The International Center for Bio-Salt Agriculture (ICBA) has also been exploring and cultivating alternative crops that can thrive in the region. Advanced agricultural initiatives
Dubai has also been continuously investing and using the latest technology to promote the development of its agricultural sector. The city recently launched the Food Technology Valley, which is the world’s first agricultural technology city of its kind. It will use the most advanced agricultural technology and modern sustainable processes to promote the country’s export of fresh produce to regional markets. Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, genetic engineering, smart agriculture, and aeroculture technologies are some of the other technologies being developed and explored in the UAE.
The UAE is unswervingly committed to reducing its dependence on food imports, and improving productivity through modern agricultural practices, while reducing the impact on the environment and making food sufficient. The UAE is achieving its agricultural and food goals.
