Etihad Airways has launched a sustainability-focused corporate incentive programme to promote and achieve corporate partners’ sustainability goals through carbon offsets, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) investments and green surcharge fares.
Corporate Conscious Choices is designed for organizations committed to reducing emissions and operating sustainably, with rewards and incentives designed to actively support environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives and employee behavior.
The program provides the benefits of four core sustainability pillars: SAF investment, green surcharge, corporate conscious miles and carbon offsets.

“We are very concerned about what governments and regulators should be doing to address climate change, but the truth is we need the help of business, and businesses have an equal responsibility to do what they can to reduce their carbon footprint, while leading by example and helping consumers be more sustainable to live.
“All businesses and organizations need transportation, whether it’s travel or supply chain. Our purpose in launching Corporate Conscious Choices is to recognize companies that are taking the most sustainable actions through rewards and recognition.”
The programme is already resonating with businesses, with a number of leading global organisations launching it in partnership with Etihad Airways, including CWT, one of the world’s largest business travel management companies; and Accenture.

Accenture is also developing new travel guides and tools for its employees to enable them to make responsible and climate-smart travel decisions, and is pleased to partner with Etihad Airways on this pioneering sustainable travel initiative.
Corporate Conscious Choices is designed as an open platform that can be adapted to the unique needs of individual businesses, so rewards and incentives can be tailored according to any of the program’s four core pillars:
SAF Investment: Sustainable aviation fuel could be one of the key components of a sustainable future for air travel, with the potential to reduce net carbon emissions by up to 80% over the entire cycle from production to use. Through the Corporate Awareness option, corporate partners will have the ability to purchase sustainable aviation fuel in bulk through Etihad Airways, which will be fully accredited and available to offset the company’s Scope 3 emissions requirements.
green surcharge: Businesses can choose to add a “green surcharge” to each corporate travel ticket, which they can then invest in offset solutions such as SAF, mangrove planting, reforestation or community projects in Africa. The surcharge will pay or partially pay for employees’ emissions from business travel, and these investments will be fully recognized where possible, providing businesses with Scope 3 emissions reductions.
Corporate Awareness Miles: When business travelers fly with Etihad Airways and earn EtihadGuest miles, the airline also awards miles to their organization. In addition to this, Corporate Conscious points can be used to offset corporate travel, daily activities or sustainable product purchases from the Etihad Frequent Flyer Rewards store. Etihad will further reward businesses if their employees make conscious choices as set out in the Etihad VIP programme.
carbon offset: Corporate Awareness Points can be invested in the Etihad Offset Program or a program of the company’s choice to offset emissions from each Etihad business travel flight. Etihad Solutions will be recognised where possible and will contribute to the company’s Scope 3 reduction and Etihad’s Scope 1 reduction.
As governments require companies to demonstrate and maintain ESG standards, integrating offset schemes within companies may improve their scores in the ESG Index, and Etihad Airways will also work with partners on other ESG initiatives.
Corporate Conscious Choices follows the launch of ‘Conscious Choices’, Etihad’s VIP green loyalty programme, and complements Etihad’s customer sustainability offerings to promote and inspire sustainable travel and lifestyle choices.
