UAE: Covid-19 cases decrease after Eid al-Adha break-News

[ad_1]

Normally, the number of daily infections in the UAE during long holidays will increase.

A senior official said on Tuesday that daily Covid-19 cases in the UAE have decreased in the past few days.

The spokesperson of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Agency (NCEMA), Dr. Taher Al Ameri, said that after the Eid al-Adha break, the number of cases decreased.

Normally, the number of daily infections in the UAE during long holidays will increase. Quoting data from Eid al-Fitr in May of this year; New Year’s Eve celebrations; and Eid al-Adha last year, the authorities had earlier stated that in some cases, daily cases had increased by 500%.

However, during the holiday last week, the number of cases was still less than 1,550 due to residents’ commitment to Covid safety measures.

“Their commitment helped us to have a safe Eid holiday,” Dr. Tahe said. “They and our frontline defense efforts will help us gradually return to normal life.”

UAE residents spent a four-day holiday on Eid al-Adha last week. Combined with the Friday-Saturday weekend, residents will have a six-day holiday from Monday, July 19 to Saturday, July 24.

After exceeding 2,000 in June, the number of daily cases has been below 1,600 for most of the month.

“Maintaining these achievements is a collective responsibility. Residents must continue to comply with all relevant Covid security measures because we need to coexist with the Covid-19 virus. Understanding that security measures is our best option to reduce its impact,” Dr Taher added.
