UAE: Kamala Harris to visit UAE to offer condolences on passing of President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed

Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris Book a visit United Arab Emirates (United Arab Emirates) led the presidential delegation on May 16, expressing condolences on behalf of the U.S. government and Americans for the passing of the president Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on May 16 to lead a presidential delegation and speak on behalf of the Biden-Harris administration and the American people on Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Our condolences on the passing of His Royal Highness de Al Nahyan,” a White House statement read.

Kamala Harris will also meet newly appointed UAE President Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Vice President’s visit will also inject new impetus into US-Arab relations.

“She will meet with His Highness Sheikh Muhammad President of the United Arab Emirates Bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In addition to honoring Sheikh Khalifa’s legacy and legacy, the Vice President will highlight the strength of the partnership between our two countries and our desire to further deepen our relationship in the months and years to come,” the statement added.

US President Joe Biden on Saturday also extended his regards to the ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on being elected as the President of UAE and expressed his will to strengthen the bond between the two countries.

Biden said the UAE is an important partner of the United States. The president recalled the newly appointed President Sheikh Mohammed as he was “at the forefront” of the US-UAE partnership. “Sheikh Mohammed, who served as vice-president on several occasions when he was crown prince of Abu Dhabi, has long been at the forefront of forging this partnership,” he continued.

The president said he looked forward to working with Sheikh Mohammed to further strengthen the bond between the two countries and peoples on this “extraordinary foundation”.

Earlier, the UAE Federal Supreme Council convened to elect the president, who will serve a five-year term before being eligible for re-election. The new president is elected from among the members of the Federal Supreme Council.

The rulers of the seven emirates in the United Arab Emirates made the decision at a meeting. The late president, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who took office in 2004, died on Friday at the age of 73 after a long illness.

Newly elected President Sheikh Mohammed has previously served as the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces since January 2005. He is known for playing a key role in developing the UAE Armed Forces in terms of strategic planning, training, organisational structure and promoting defence capabilities .
