To register your villa or apartment as a holiday home, you must apply for a permit from the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT).

How do I list my Abu Dhabi home on Airbnb?
If you are interested in using your property as a vacation rental in Abu Dhabi, there are three factors you should keep in mind before getting started:
• First, you need to be the owner of the property that is registered as a holiday home, with the dwelling unit registered in your name in whole or in part. Tenants cannot use their rental property as a holiday home in Abu Dhabi.
• Additionally, before you can host your home on Airbnb as a vacation rental, you will need to apply for a vacation home permit through the DCT Abu Dhabi website.Only properties that are registered as vacation homes can be listed on Airbnb, following the A memorandum of understanding signed by DCT and Airbnb in February this year.
• According to the DCT, the unit must be a privately owned complex private residence or condominium. It cannot be a separate room.

How do I apply for a holiday home in Abu Dhabi?
To apply for a vacation home permit, follow these steps:
1. Create an online account on the DCT Abu Dhabi website: https://accounts.dct.gov.ae/en/pages/new-registration.aspx?gotourl=https://accounts.dct.gov.ae/en /Pages/Login-Page.aspx and enter the following details:
• Username and Email
• create password
• full name
• Date and place of birth
• Emirates ID
• Passport number and place of issue
• family address
• Company Name
• company address
• cellphone number
2. After creating the account, click Submit. Then go back to the main page and log in with your new online account. Before starting your application, please make sure you have the following documents:
• Emirates ID
• Passport number
• Proof of home insurance
• Tawtheeq Contract (Lease Contract)
• Tawtheeq number
3. Once you have created a new account and logged in, you will see the application page for your vacation home permit on your personal account dashboard.
4. Click the Request an HH License tab.
5. Enter your Tawtheeq number and click Next.
6. After entering the Tawtheeq number, the permit application page will automatically fill in the lessor’s full name, nationality, Emirates ID and mobile number.
7. After confirming and verifying that the information filled in is accurate, upload the insurance certificate and copy of Tawtheeq and agree to the terms and conditions.
9. The submission process has been completed and is under review by DCT Abu Dhabi.
10. If your application for permission is approved, you will be notified via your registered email address. Then you have to log in again and process the payment. On your account dashboard, the status of the app will show “Pending Payment”. Click “Pay Now”.
11. Start by viewing DCT Abu Dhabi’s Tax Invoice and click the “Pay Now” button below. You must pay the license fee online by debit/credit card.
12. After paying the fee, you can download the receipt and vacation home permit.

The license application fee is Dh900, non-refundable.
According to DCT Abu Dhabi, the license is valid for one year, but you can apply for a renewal request. Renewal applications must be submitted within one month of the license expiration. If your license is about to expire, DCT Abu Dhabi will notify you by email six to eight weeks before your license expiration date. You have to pay AED 900 to renew the license.
