DUBAI: The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has reminded customers to use its smart services to manage electricity and water consumption more efficiently, especially during the summer months.
DEWA noted: “The Smart Living programme has won the 2020 Hamdan Bin Mohammed Government Service Mark programme, helping customers to proactively monitor and manage their water and electricity consumption digitally without contacting DEWA. The ‘High Water Alert’ is part of the Smart Response programme , which can help customers spot any leaks at the water connection after metering.”
Energy Saving Tips
DEWA also advises its customers to replace their old air conditioners with new energy efficient air conditioners and set the air conditioner thermostat to 24 degrees Celsius for human comfort.
DEWA also recommends regular cleaning of air conditioner filters to increase their efficiency and ensuring doors and windows are adequately sealed to prevent cold air from escaping.
Additionally, where applicable, customers should use LED lights and timers or motion detectors to control their operation. The pool should be covered and the plants watered before 8am or after 6pm to avoid evaporation during the heat.
More practical energy saving tips can be found on DEWA’s smart app and website.
