(Menaffin– Edelman) Abu Dhabi, UAE; July 5, 2022: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB), a leading Islamic financial institution, and the UAE Professional League announced the signing of a new sponsorship contract, under which Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Will be the main sponsor of the UAE League Cup. From the 2022-2023 season, the cup will be named “ADIB Cup”. The sponsorship agreement will run for three years.
The signing ceremony took place at ADIB headquarters on Monday 4 July in the presence of ADIB Group CEO Nasser Al Awadhi and UAE Professional League Chairman Abdullah Nasser Al Junaibi.
The new sponsorship agreement reflects ADIB’s commitment to the health and well-being of society by supporting sports and wellness initiatives and programs that encourage healthy lifestyles, and the Bank’s commitment to enhancing communication with the 14 clubs’ vast fan bases participating in league and cup competitions .
Nasser Al Awadhi, CEO of ADIB Group, said: “We are delighted to announce that ADIB will be the main sponsor of the Emirates League Cup for the next three years. Football has been a key part of our marketing strategy as it provides us with An opportunity for fans to connect. This partnership will also allow us to play a bigger role locally, bringing fans closer to their favorite games and creating unique opportunities and experiences for them. This sponsorship is also in line with our support sport and youth and a commitment to promoting the health and well-being of society.”
Al Awadhi added: “Through this sponsorship, we seek to strengthen the position of the UAE football community and support the association’s vision to elevate local football to a global level, which will positively reflect the UAE’s status as a global centre for professional sports championships. We look forward to Organizing numerous events with the league to take the sport to the next level and nurture and encourage younger generations to practice it.”
Abdullah Nasser Al Junaibi, vice-president of the UAE Football Federation and chairman of the UAE Professional League, said he hoped the agreement would help support efforts aimed at developing professional competition in general and the League Cup in particular. The sponsorship stems from the excellent relationship between the Alliance and ADIB, and reflects a three-year strategic partnership to serve the UAE and its country, while investing in their talent to increase creativity and excellence.

Al-Junaibi said that each season the league seeks to improve the commercial, marketing and organisational aspects of the professional game in order to create a comprehensive environment conducive to the development of UAE football in line with the 2020-2030 strategic plan. This will lead to best practices and applications that will ensure the continuity and continued development of these competitions, especially the ADIB Cup. Over the past few years, the championship has established itself at all skill and promotion levels, and has come out on top every season.
Notably, ADIB is committed to the communities in which it operates and has prioritized meaningful community initiatives that reflect this commitment, such as the Future of Champions League. The programme aims to raise awareness among Emirati children about the importance of physical activity in maintaining health and fitness, and provide them with a fun experience through the football matches they participate in with the team. The Bank launched the Future Champions League in 2011, a football competition that is attended by more than 3,000 children from different schools every year.
The bank continues to work on implementing a youth development programme based on recruiting, developing and enhancing local skills. The plan will include visits to university colleges across the country and funding sports programmes such as the National League of Cricket Schools and the Emirates Professional League.
