[ad_1]

Abu Dhabi – UAE: In a bid to enhance Abu Dhabi’s credentials as a premier venue for international scientific and technological events, the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), a world-leading scientific research centre and the Applied Research Pillar of the Abu Dhabi Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), announced today that its Directed Energy The Research Center (DERC) will organize the upcoming GLOBALEM conference, the definitive high-power electromagnetic (HPEM) conference.

The conference, which will be held at the St. Regis Abu Dhabi from 13-17 November, marks DERC’s first high-profile event since making headlines recently, launching a state-of-the-art dedicated pre-qualification test. The research facility at Tawazun Industrial Park in Abu Dhabi – consists of five specialized laboratories, each dedicated to a specific area of high energy physics. This prestigious conference was first held in 1978 at the Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (NEM) conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, with the support of Dr. Carl Baum, a distinguished scientist in the electromagnetic field, and the Summa Foundation he established.

The Directed Energy Research Centre recently made headlines after launching a state-of-the-art research facility dedicated to pre-qualification testing at Abu Dhabi’s Tawazun Industrial Park.

Dr. Chaouki Kasmi, Principal Investigator of the Center for Directed Energy Research, will serve as Chairman of the GLOBALEM Organizing Committee, providing expertise. Other expert members of the committee include Dr. Bill Radasky from Metatech Corporation, USA and Dr. Nicolas Mora from DERC as Joint Technical Program Committee Co-Chairs, and Dr. Felix Vega from DERC, Dr. Lars Ole Fichte from USA Helmut-Hamburg, Germany Dr. Jane Lehr of Schmidt University and the University of New Mexico served as conference advisor.

This session will dissect the challenges and opportunities that currently exist, as well as those that are developing every day in the key field of electromagnetics, and will attract the interest of experts from different fields such as pulsed power technology, high voltage generators, microwave radiation, etc. Covers analytical and numerical modeling and experimental verification.

All eyes will be trained for the Best Student Paper Award (BSPA), which will be awarded to up to two outstanding papers where the first author is a student. In addition to the regular extended abstracts required for the conference, the award is only awarded to submissions and submissions of complete papers. Proof of student enrollment must be submitted with the online submission, and all submitted work must be original work that has not appeared in previous conferences or similar forums. Winners will receive a certificate and a $500 cash prize.

Likewise, the Young Scientist Award (YSA) will recognize young researchers under the age of 35 who have made innovative contributions in fields related to high-power electromagnetics. Young researchers keen to enter the competition can nominate themselves during the submission process. As the lead author of the paper, YSA applicants must provide an extended abstract of the paper for submission after January 1, 1987 and a birth certificate. All submitted work must be original work, and scientists must also include their CVs as part of the process.

For both awards, the last date to submit extended abstracts online is July 1, 2022. Acceptance confirmation and nominations will be completed by August 15, which is the last date for final review and submission of full text and award nominations. Early bird registration is open until September 30, 2022.

Dr. Chaouki Kasmi emphasized the importance of the conference to the TII ecosystem and to Abu Dhabi, saying: “The GLOBALEM conference promises to be a game changer in the region. High power electromagnetics is one of the hot areas we are focusing on at DERC today because of its Spanning a wide variety of applications and fields – from everyday generators, motors and transformers, to maglev trains, from astronomy to healthcare and everything in between. We’re even focusing on new innovations that can treat certain types of cancer. Being able to convene so many global experts in Abu Dhabi is unprecedented and means a lot to TII and the region.”
