Authorities in the UAE warned residents and motorists on Tuesday of unsettled weather conditions as hail and torrential rain hit parts of the country.
The UAE Meteorological Department reported heavy rain and strong winds in some parts of the east.
The National Weather Service posted a video of the rain-soaked Al Ain desert on its social media. Some areas in Al Hili, Masakin and Al Shikla districts of Al Ain are experiencing heavy rain.
All posts by the department carry the hashtag #cloud_seeding, indicating that the authorities have been using rain enhancement techniques in the country. This may be why the country experiences heavy rains during the peak summer months.
Temperatures in Abu Dhabi and Dubai were 35ºC and 37ºC respectively.
The Interior Ministry and Abu Dhabi Police are urging drivers to exercise caution and obey the changing speed limits displayed on electronic information boards. Motorists were also warned to watch out for debris and flying objects in high-speed winds.
