Tokyo Olympics: Three Dubai residents participate in the men’s golf tournament at the Olympic Games-News

[ad_1]

Golf has returned to the Olympics for the second time since 1904 after its successful return in Rio five years ago.

The pandemic has dealt a heavy blow to this week’s men’s game, with world number one Spain’s Jon Lahm and the United States’ Bryson DeChambeau both withdrew from the game.

Three of the current OWGR’s top 10 — Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele — are still participating.

This is not the quality of the venue expected by the golf and Olympic sports authorities.

The 60 players in the men’s event will compete in Kasumigaseki CC, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

Nine golf Olympians from the 2016 Rio Olympics and 51 first-time participants will participate in this week’s competition. The 2016 medal winners Justin Rose of the United Kingdom, Henryk Stenson of Sweden and Matt Kuchar of the United States did not participate in this week’s competition.

It is worth noting that the three Dubai residents represent their respective countries in Japan.

Spain’s Adrianos, Italians Guido Migliozzi and Renato Palatore will compete for the highest honor in Tokyo.

Golf at the Olympics is an excellent platform to showcase the sport to a wider audience, especially young and non-golfers. IGF strives to bring golf back to the Olympics.

Unfortunately, the audience will not be there this year, but fans can watch some fascinating battles on TV.

Let us hope that this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, golf at the Olympics is just an episode, and the 2024 Paris Olympics will witness this glorious sport.

The location and schedule of the Olympic Games seem to be a challenge for athletes and managers, but 2024 will certainly not be easier due to similar scheduling issues.

But the next two weeks of the Olympic Games are very important for golf.

Good luck to all players and all those involved in the game.

Richard Rayment, owner of Spotlight Agency and manager of Dubai golfer Adri and Rafa Cabrera Bello (Spain), recently signed to manage another Spaniard, Nacho Elvira.

Under Richard’s supervision, Nacho won the CAZOO Welsh Open at Celtic Manor last week.

Before the final round on Sunday, Elvira defeated South Africa’s Justin Harding on the first hole of the play-offs with a 6-shot lead. This is the 34-year-old golfer on the tour. First victory.

Nacho played well!
