ABU DHABI, 6th July, 2022 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, has commended Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed The generous support of His Royal Highness President Al Nahyan and the wise leadership of an ambitious development plan that embodies the vision to build a sporting and healthy society.
Sheikh Nahyan revealed this on Wednesday while chairing a regular meeting of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council at his headquarters.
Dr Jamal Muhammad Al Kaabi, Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, Muhammad Khalifa Al Nuaimi and Dr Omniyat Muhammad Al Hajri, Muslim Salem Al Ameri attended the meeting.
Also present were Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Ahmed Ismail Al Hosani, Executive Director, Strategic Planning and Institutional Excellence, and Ahmed Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Executive Director, Council Support Services.
The meeting discussed a number of important issues that serve the development of sports in Abu Dhabi, and reviewed community sports development plans and programs, as well as the annual international sports events.
The goals of strengthening community sports and Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for the global sports industry were the subject of discussion and debate.
The general performance of Abu Dhabi Emirate Sports Clubs in terms of administration, finance and management is also on the agenda, with Sheikh Nahyan suggesting the establishment of an internal audit committee in these clubs for greater success.
Sheikh Nahyan approved the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s draft budget for 2023, which includes all the various programs, initiatives, events and activities aimed at achieving the goals of the Abu Dhabi Government’s Healthy Lifestyle Initiative.
The conference reflects the promotion of community sports and active lifestyles, as well as continuing plans to attract major international sporting events that contribute to the emirate’s economic resources.
