E3 will return to Los Angeles for a live event in 2023

The Electronic Entertainment Expo, the video game showcase commonly known as E3, will return to its old Los Angeles venue in 2023.

“We’re back,” E3’s official Twitter account announced Thursday.

The annual event is returning to the Los Angeles Convention Center three years after in-person gatherings were abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

E3 organizer Entertainment Software Association is partnering with event production company ReedPop to host next year’s conference, which will take place both live and online. ReedPop is also known for hosting New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, and PAX Gaming Culture events.

“ReedPop brings world-class talent and a keen understanding of the video game industry that will help elevate the E3 experience for years to come,” ESA President and CEO Stanley Pierre-Louis said in a statement to The Times. said in a statement.

Kyle Marsden-Kish, ReedPop’s vice president of global gaming, added that E3’s return in Los Angeles will be “recognized as epic” and set “a new benchmark for video game expo in 2023 and beyond.”

The annual video game extravaganza used to bring more than 65,000 fans and industry insiders to the Los Angeles Convention Center, but was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. E3 returns in 2021 as a four-day virtual event.

“The 2023 showcase will bring the community, media and industry back together, bringing new formats and interactive experiences,” ESA previously said of the event in the second week of June 2023.

But with the end of summer E3, other entities in the gaming community have taken care of updates to these highly anticipated games on their own.
