Abu Dhabi launches Middle East’s largest indoor summer sports program

Abu Dhabi Summer Sports is underway in the UAE capital, making it easy to stay fit and cool when the weather warms up.

The event, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, is themed around fitness and sports and is open every day until the end of August.

Participants can play tennis, basketball and football, or try the purpose-built one-kilometre walking track, which is free for everyone.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, it aims to encourage people to stay healthy even during the hottest months of the year.

As the largest indoor sporting event in the region, the Abu Dhabi Summer Games features three sevens pitches, two futsal pitches, eight paddle tennis courts, three basketball courts, three badminton courts and three volleyball courts field. There is also a cricket pitch and a CrossFit track, reservations required.

Visitors can also experience giant inflatable toys known as Inflatafest. Filled with slides, climbing walls, obstacle courses and more, the bouncy structure is open to adults and children alike.

Summer Sports Abu Dhabi offers visitors of all ages an ideal opportunity to engage in physical activity during the summer in a pleasant atmosphere for all. We invite all to participate and encourage them to develop a healthy lifestyle through daily practice,” said Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.

There are plenty of free activities available, and participants keen to try out any indoor sport can book on the event website or through Abu Dhabi Summer Sports Abu Dhabi’s social media accounts.

Under Abu Dhabi’s Covid-19 safety regulations, participants must show a green status on the Al Hosn app, which requires a negative PCR within the past 14 days. Masks are also required to enter the venue.
