Ladies and gentlemen weekend stuff..?
Take the winner and we’ll have the best Abu Dhabi weekend yet, and we’ve reserved a back seat for you.

Newcomers to the movies this weekend
This week we have an awesome double for you, all coming out on Thursday. first, Elvis — Baz Luhrmann’s projects don’t come up very often, but when they do — we can guarantee it’s a spectacle. His latest release in June is another musical celebration, a biopic that focuses on the undisputed king of rock and roll Elvis Presley. The titular leader, is Austin Butler – you may remember him playing in both high schools Hannah Montana and iCarly– The Better Lineage of Teen Heartthrobs You’re Less Likely to See. While initially offering only a vague resemblance to the saga, the trailer showcases a hauntingly accurate onstage charisma. Tom Hanks joins the cast as Colonel Tom Parker, the controversial figure who “discovered” Elvis, became his agent and helped create an icon. We see a world full of racial tension, a shift in entertainment mode after the first true global superstar emerges, what happens when that star’s fire starts to wane, and the interior void that opens up when the lights go out. Read our cast interview here.
Next, black phoneScott Derrickson chose the directorial project after a conflict of interest with the Marvel team over where to take Doctor Strange in his Multiverse of Madness. The loss of the Cloak House is the specter of this haunting psychological horror. black phone, is a kidnapping story about a young boy imprisoned in a filthy basement who, using a disconnected phone, is able to communicate with the captives of a mysterious serial killer known as “Grabber”. The villain in this production seems to be played very well by Ethan Hawke’s Tides of Fame genius. From the trailer alone, we estimate we’ve accumulated about a month of sleep time with the lights on.

At Clymb, an adventure park in Yass, you can skydive and climb the man-made Mount Everest from the comfort of a steel sky. The venue has a truly epic wind tunnel that allows you to experience all the thrills of falling out of an airplane, except for a few meters above sea level, and not having to trust square meters of tons of nylon. Prefer to climb hands-on? There are plenty of climbing walls and boulder edges to put your finger strength against. It is our nation’s spiritual home against gravity.

A brand new beach brunch scene full of bohemian charm, the Saturday Sunset Brunch at the Emirates Palace in Las Brisas does look like something very special. Carnival events take place between 5.30pm and 10pm and include food and drinks, a beach bonfire and access to the expansive pool complex. We’re told the drinks will be Latin-inspired, and the snacks will feature “pass menu‘. The food offering is built on a fusion of wild opulence and more tried-and-true brunch classics. Expect oysters and caviar to appear alongside fish and chips, wagyu burgers, sushi, prawn tacos and a range of live-grilled dishes.
