According to a report commissioned by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, around 76.5% of companies in Dubai achieved business growth during Expo 2020, while 73.5% successfully established new business relationships during the world’s largest exhibition.

According to Emirates, in terms of services provided by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce during the event, 70.6% of respondents said they benefited from networking, 47% from the Global Business Forum series and 47% from the B2B conference news agency Wow.

The report, titled “Business Integration for Growth, Digital Transformation and Global Collaboration”, was prepared by the Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Oxford Business Group.

During Expo 2020 Dubai, Dubai Chamber of Commerce organised a total of 98 events attended by more than 25,000 participants from over 130 countries. The Africa, ASEAN and Latin America Global Business Forums saw the highest levels of participation, with government and business leaders participating in high-level forums, both in person and virtually.

The 12th World Chamber of Commerce Congress and a series of themed business forums are also hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and attended by chambers of commerce and industry leaders. These events identified global challenges and highlighted innovative solutions to drive sustainable economic growth.

The Dubai Chamber facilitated 1,500 bilateral business meetings between Emirati investors and their global counterparts, and hosted 1,746 delegations from over 60 countries, as well as 3,350 government and business leaders, during the grand event.

Seven new economic and professional institutions have been licensed by the Dubai Association Centre, a partnership between the Dubai Chamber of Commerce (one of three under the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, along with the Dubai International Chamber of Commerce and the Dubai Digital Economy Chamber), Dubai Economy and Tourism and Dubai World Trade Centre.

Revenue per available room (RevPAR) in Dubai increased to AED460 (US$125) in January 2022, an increase of 56.3%, compared to AED293 (US$80) in January 2021, the report showed. It surpassed Milan, the host city of Expo 2015, with a RevPAR of 54.5% in 2015.

There were 759 hotels and hotel facilities in Dubai in January 2022, compared to 711 in January 2021, and 3.04 million guest nights in January 2021, compared to 2.65 million in January 2021.

Arrivals at Dubai International Airport increased by 12.7% in 2021 compared to 2020, while non-oil foreign trade in the UAE increased by 27% compared to 2020 and 11% compared to 2019. This growth trend is mainly driven by 2020 Promoting Expo Dubai.

Hamad Buamim, President and CEO of Dubai Chamber of Commerce, described Expo 2020 Dubai as a historic milestone for the UAE and Dubai, noting that Dubai Chamber of Commerce played a key role in fostering partnerships between Emirati companies and their global counterparts during Expo 2020 Dubai , and expand Dubai’s fast-growing Dubai mature business ecosystem.

“Our aim is to be the best chamber of commerce in the world when it comes to driving competitiveness and growth. At Expo 2020 Dubai, we have been able to put this mission and vision into action. Our efforts to support large-scale events help Strengthen Dubai’s reputation as a place to do business.

“Based on our long-term strategy of embracing digital transformation, we have adopted a hybrid format for the Expo 2020 campaign. Doing so allows us to expand our reach and engage with public and private stakeholders from around the world,” he said.

Buamim highlighted the role of Expo 2020 Dubai as a stepping stone towards a resilient future shaped by a more competitive and diversified economy supported by innovation, international cooperation and SMEs.
