Drivers can now park for free in Abu Dhabi on Sundays.
Motorists will not be charged for passing the city Darb toll booth on Sunday.
This move is in Change to work week Sunday to Thursday to Monday to Friday – Friday is half day for schools and public sector offices.
A Department of Transport statement said that parking and toll booths were previously free on Fridays, but that will no longer be the case from July 15. No charge on public holidays.
The Abu Dhabi Government Media Office said: “The resolution complies with the requirements of the transport sector to enhance the streamlining and mobility of traffic during peak hours on weekdays, promote traffic flow and increase the level of safety on the emirate’s roads.”
Darb toll gates will now charge drivers Dh4 between 7am-9am and 5pm-7pm Monday to Saturday.
The daily limit for vehicles is AED 16.
Families are capped at AED 200 per month for their first car and AED 150 per month if they have a second car.
