Dubai Chamber of Commerce organizes Ethiopian delegation to visit

Ten prominent decision makers from Ethiopia’s public and private sectors explored Dubai’s success in digital services and discussed the prospects for potential business partnerships to support the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy.

The delegation was led by Ewnetu Abera, CEO of Perago Information Systems, the company responsible for implementing the .gov program for the Ethiopian federal government, hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce from 25-30 July 2022.

The visit was paved by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s representative office in Ethiopia; the office’s mission is to attract foreign investment and support Dubai companies’ expansion in the global market. The visiting delegation included representatives of the Ethiopian Ministry of Innovation and Technology and executives from Perago Information Systems PLC.

The delegation held eight meetings with representatives of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, Digital Dubai and various companies including OnTime, Value Grid, Digital Falcon and World1Media to discuss opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

The delegation met Khalid Al-Jarwan, Executive Director of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, who briefed them on the evolution of the digital economy in the emirate of Dubai and the Chamber’s efforts to realize the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai, will promote the UAE as the world’s digital economy capital and a major destination for international digital companies.

Al-Jarwan stressed the importance of partnerships and collaborative efforts, highlighting the competitive advantage Dubai offers to digital startups looking to expand into global markets. He asserted that the Dubai Digital Economy Chamber is ready to provide the necessary facilities and support to encourage African digital companies – especially Ethiopian companies – to choose Dubai as their base of operations and gateway for expansion.

Al-Jarwan explained that Ethiopia is Africa’s leading market for digital entrepreneurship and an important economic partner of the Emirate of Dubai, noting that the digital economy is an essential pillar for building future economic partnerships between the two regions.

The visiting delegation appreciated Dubai’s strong partnership between the public and private sectors, the rapid development of the digital economy and the emirate’s reputation as a global destination for digital companies. Delegates noted that Dubai and its public and private sectors have accumulated a wealth of experience that can help Ethiopia achieve the goals of its Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy.

Representative Office: Strategic Role

Omar Khan, Director of the International Office of the Dubai International Chamber of Commerce, said the organization of the delegation comes amid a comprehensive effort to enhance Dubai’s status as a global business destination and a hub of international expertise in customer service and digital. He explained that Chambers’ representative office in Ethiopia is committed to supporting Dubai companies in their entry into the global market and uses the emirate’s successful experience in various fields as a means to achieve strategic goals.

Khan noted that the visit successfully introduced the delegation to the competitive advantages of Dubai’s economy; it introduced the model used to create and manage strategic partnerships between the public and private sectors, and highlighted the opportunities Dubai can offer in foreign markets. Exchange expertise in customer service

The visiting delegation visited the membership and documentation department of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, where they met with its Director, Abdulla Al-Theeb, and discussed the smart services the Chamber provides to its members.

Delegates appreciated the digital model implemented by the Chamber of Commerce, which has seamless procedures and allows for quick service delivery to increase customer satisfaction. They also praised the Chamber’s performance appraisal process, which uses digital dashboards, and high-quality, efficient digital services, noting that this is a model that can be implemented in Ethiopian government entities.

Al-Theeb highlighted the principles upon which the Chamber’s customer service and digital transformation systems rest, stating that customer well-being is a top priority and requires continuous investment to provide customers with superior solutions that allow them to complete transactions easily and conveniently, saving their time and energy.

Noting that smart service is the foundation of excellent customer service, he stressed that the Chamber is committed to providing value-added services that keep pace with Dubai’s future commercial and economic progress, making it easier and more efficient for customers to complete their transactions.

Abera said: “The experience exchange programme organised by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce has allowed us to explore digital technologies that are driving new levels of growth. We also benefited from meetings with private sector companies, including start-ups and established companies, to discuss opportunities in the Ethiopian market. Partnership opportunities.
