Sir Peter Jackson Ghosted by ‘Ring of Thrones’ Producers | Entertainment

[ad_1]

Sir Peter Jackson claims he was intimidated by the makers of the upcoming ‘Lord of the Rings’ prequel series.

The 60-year-old director — who directed the “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogy based on JRR Tolkein’s work — revealed that the production team behind Amazon TV saga “The Lord of the Rings: The Ring of Power” originally worked with He reached out to the possibility of being on the show, but after initial conversations, he never heard from them again.

“They asked me if I wanted to be a part of — [writer-producer Fran Walsh] And I — I said, “That’s a question that can’t be answered without reading the script.”

However, although the producers promised to send a copy of the script to Peter and Fran when they were finished, that didn’t materialize.

Peter added: “The script never came out. That was the last thing I heard.”

But the award-winning filmmaker has “no complaints at all” about what happened and is looking forward to seeing the show when it hits theaters.

He said: “I’ll watch it. I’m not a malicious person. Filmmaking is hard enough.

“If someone makes a good movie or TV show, that’s something to celebrate. One of the things I look forward to is seeing it as a completely neutral audience.”

Amazon Studios insisted that they “have an obligation to differentiate the series from Peter’s films” and that they “have the greatest respect” for the director and his work.

In a statement, they said: “In fighting for the rights to our show, we have an obligation to keep the series distinct and separate from the film.

“We have the highest respect for Peter Jackson and the Lord of the Rings films and are delighted that he is looking forward to watching The Ring of Thrones.”
