The hospitality industry in the UAE is poised for significant growth, with strong growth in tourist arrivals in the country. Recent figures show that hotels in the UAE welcomed nearly 6 million tourists who stayed at 25 million hotel nights in the first quarter of 2022, an increase of 10% compared to the same period in 2019.

Hotels achieved total revenue of AED11 billion in the first quarter of 2022, a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2019.

“Travel and tourism in the UAE has seen a huge and rapid recovery since COVID-19 restrictions were gradually lifted. Dubai is growing faster than Abu Dhabi thanks to Expo 2020 and DTCM plans,” Sofitel Abu Dhabi General Manager Firas Sharrouf said.

He added: “Similarly, Abu Dhabi saw an increase in occupancy as of May 2022 following the lifting of the city’s quarantine and the activities implemented by the DCT. Dubai’s occupancy increased by around 15% year-on-year, while Abu Dhabi’s occupancy increased The rate is slightly lower, at about 7%.”

Regarding the company’s performance, he said: “Accor’s half-year results for 2022 show a strong recovery across all our brands and regions, with our activity back to 2019 figures. For Q2 RevPAR, our near-term optimism continues to be strong.”

He added, regarding the group’s future growth prospects, “We expect international demand in the Middle East to reach per-pandemic levels by 2023. The outlook for the fourth quarter is expected to be very healthy, with occupancy at 85% and an increase of around 15%. %.”

He concluded: “Similar to the market, we have certainly observed a fair rebound at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche, especially in our corporate sector, as companies return to some extent to their pre-pandemic business practices. Mainly in the second quarter of 2022, we hosted many corporate groups visiting the city for business and meetings.”
