Moeen Ali, Sunil Narine, Shimron Hetmyer and other celebrities sign up for UAE ILT20

“Over the past few weeks, the six teams in the ILT20 have started discussions and approached players and players’ agents to exercise their ‘outright buy’ rights and we are very pleased to be able to announce today that the first players will be participating in the UAE’s The first (T20) league,” Khalid Al Zarooni, Chairman of the UAE ILT20 said.

Cricketers from Australia, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan were not included in the first roster released on Monday (August 8).

Other names on the big list include Andre Russell, David Maran, Evan Lewis, Fabian Allen, Sam Billings, Tom Curran, Dushmantha Chamei Ra, Akyr Hussain, Tom Banton, Sandeep Ramihane, Rofman Powell and Banuka Rajapaksa.

“It was great to see how the ILT20 Season 1 teams performed. Each team will consist of 18 players, including 4 UAE players and 2 other players from associate members of the ICC. The quality of the names announced today is excellent , as is the interest in our league from top players from around the world.” UAE Cricket Secretary General Mubashhir Usmani said.

The league also announced the second roster, which includes: Rahiru Kumara, Seekugge Prassanna, Charith Asalanka, Isuru Udana, Colin Ingram, Paul Stirling, Kennar Lewis, Ali Khan, Brandon Glover, Ravi Rampaul, Raymon Reifer , Blessing Muzarabani, Niroshan Dickwella, Hazaratullah Zazai, Frederick Klassen, Sikandar Raza, George Munsey, Dan Lawrence, Dominic Drakes, Jamie Overton, Liam Dawson, David Wiese, Qais Ahmed, Richard Gleeson, James Vince, Noor Ahmed, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Navin Ul Haq, Sherfane Rutherford, Saqib Mahmood, Ben Duckett, Benny Howell and Ruben Trumpelman.

“We are delighted to have selected some of the UAE representative players from our current squad that will also be considered and signed for the league, it is also important to note that these (UAE) players will be part of the team playing in the XI.”

“One of the main goals of ILT20 is to provide players from the UAE and other relevant countries with the opportunity to perform on the big stage, and the ECB is deeply grateful to the six franchises for their support in developing the game and our vision. Creating stronger, more competitive players,” Added Ottoman.

The six-team league will play 34 matches in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.India’s Reliance Industries, Kolkata Knight Riders, Capri Global, GMR, Lancer Capital, Adani Sportsline have bought franchises in India ILT20.
