National exhibit includes paintings by Arkansas teachers

“Mrs. Lucy’s Washbasin” Little Rock artist Glenda McCuneAccording to a press release from the Arkansas Artists Union, it was one of 80 entries selected by a panel of five artists and arts leaders from 425 entries to be included in the National Association for Arts Education’s membership exhibition.The virtual display went live on July 25 and will be available online through January 6 at arteduators.org/community/articles/968-2022-naea-member-exhibit.

McCune, a native of Hamburg and a retired Pulaski County Special School District teacher, is the only Arkansas artist to have work in the exhibit. This painting is part of her “Southern Landscapes” series, which depicts her life in southeastern and central Arkansas. Her work was recently featured in “Southern Culture,” a solo exhibition at Acansa Gallery in North Little Rock, June 17-July 10.

Ratzlaff was previously an exterior design consultant for Main Street Arkansas. She holds a BA in History from John Brown University in Siloam Springs and a postgraduate degree in Urban Strategy and Design from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.
