ABU DHABI, 9th August, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, have announced the launch of the all-new Race Series Edition, offering the public the ability to train sprints ahead of the fourth edition. Opportunity ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon will take place on December 17, 2022.
Open to all ages, the race series edition will feature three organized races. The first, scheduled to take place indoors on September 3, 2022, will offer participants the opportunity to run 1km and 3km races of 5km (km) or less inside Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi. The second event will take place on 8 October 2022 at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain, offering an outdoor 10km race as well as 3km and 5km options.
The third race in the series will take place on November 5, 2022, just over a month after the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon. It will allow participants to run a 21.1km half marathon on a new track on Yas Island, as well as distances of 3km, 5km and 10km.
Aref Al Awani, Secretary General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, said: “The new series of community races is a unique addition to the fourth ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon programme and our sporting agenda.
“It further reveals our enduring commitment to encouraging physical activity among members of society of all ages and ensures that it promotes our healthy and active lifestyle programmes to further improve Abu Dhabi’s Quality of Life Index.”
Saif Sultan Al Nasseri, Director of ADNOC Human Capital, said: “The Race Series provides a great opportunity for the public to train and practice their race strategies ahead of the ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon, and we encourage everyone to take advantage. In keeping with the slogan “Serving the Community, for the Community”, the event series showcases how ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2022 can drive community engagement and promote healthy lifestyles for all UAE residents.
Registration for the Race Series Edition will open in August at https://supersportsuae.com, and runners can choose their preferred event and distance or register for the entire series.
The organizers have created a special bundle for those eager to participate in the entire competition series. The individual entry fee for each event is AED 55, while the entry fee for the half marathon on Yas Island on November 5 is AED 175. Runners who sign up for all three events will receive a 20% discount, with entry fees starting at AED 115.
Additionally, those who have registered for ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2022 will benefit from a 30% discount code on the Race Series Edition.
Registration for the 2022 ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon and its 10km, 5km and 2.5km distance races is open via the official website https://www.adnocabudhabimarathon.com. Those who register before September 30, 2022 will receive a 10% discount.
Last year’s ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon attracted over 12,000 runners of all ages and abilities, in addition to a considerable number of elite international athletes. The 42.2km race was held concurrently with another 10km, 5km and 2.5km races to maximise the participation of visitors from Abu Dhabi, the wider UAE and overseas.
