Several big box stores and retailers have launched “back to school” campaigns, with discounts of up to 75% on various products as schools prepare to reopen after the summer break.

Millions of dirhams worth of discounts and prizes will be available to UAE shoppers on thousands of products, including school supplies, clothing, stationery and electronic devices, on online and brick-and-mortar platforms until early September.

Sharjah has announced a back-to-school shopping campaign that will offer discounts of up to 75% at malls, libraries and stationery stores in the emirate.

Retailers say stationery sales have improved further as UAE schools resume face-to-face instruction this year.

“Virtual classes have greatly impacted the back-to-school season over the past two years, with fixed sales down nearly 50% in 2020 before recovering slightly in 2021.

Interestingly, as parents prepare to use printers, toners, laptops, tablets, and more while homeschooling, electronics make up for the need for stationery. This year, we expect stationery sales to reach pre-pandemic levels as students return to class and we are proud to be supporting families across the UAE,” said Christophe Orcet, Head of Commercial and Operations at Carrefour UAE.

Below is a list of special offers announced by retailers as part of the “Back to School” package:

– Honorary Director General: As part of its ‘Back to School’ promotion, the electronics retailer is also offering specials and offering customers the chance to win prizes worth AED2 million. Shoppers can also win a laptop or tablet worth up to AED 5,000 per day. Every customer receives a guaranteed gift with their purchase of laptops, tablets, monitors and printers. This year, Sharaf DG is also inviting book donations in their retail stores. Families can bring old and used books to Sharaf DG and receive gift certificates to contribute to a noble cause. Books will be recycled with trusted partners for further use.

It also offers an extensive collection of children’s cartoon characters such as Frozen, Hello Kitty, Batman, Superman and more.
