During the trial, Baig said he never thought of abusing the name of the court and did not issue a notice to challenge the power of the court. According to ARY News, he prayed that the IHC would withdraw the notice of contempt of court issued on November 1, 2019.

The speculation came after the Sindh High Court ordered PEMRA to immediately resume ARY news transmissions across the country.

The development came as Pakistani media portals reported that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) had reportedly activated its strategic media team to smear Pakistan Justice Movement (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, Refers to PTI leader Shahbaz. Jill was arrested.

The media’s senior vice-president, Ammad Yousaf, was arrested in Karachi in the early hours of Wednesday morning, a day after the broadcast of Pakistan’s ARY News was cancelled by the country’s regulators.

Meanwhile, in the latest development in the Amad Yusuf case, a Karachi court acquitted him on Thursday. Yusuf, the outlet’s senior vice president, was appearing in Mariel District Court. He was taken to an armoured vehicle and not allowed to meet his lawyer and family, ARY News reported.

A day earlier, Yusuf’s lawyer Naeem Qureshi asked the court to quash the First Information Report (FIR) against the ARY news chief. “If the court does not withdraw the FIR, we will apply for bail,” he said.

According to lawyers, the FIR against Yusuf in Karachi was illegal. “The FIR registered with the Memon Goth Police Station is a violation of the court’s decision,” he added. Talking to the media after the verdict, Yousaf said he thanked everyone who supported ARY NEWS during the test.

Salman Iqbal, Anchor Persons, Arshad Sharif and Khawar Ghuman, president and CEO of ARY Digital Network, have also been charged with sedition.

The Memon Goth Police Station in Karachi has registered a Preliminary Information Report (FIR) according to the Station Officer’s (SHO) complaint. According to the channel, the FIR was registered an hour before the arrest of ARY news chief Ammad Yousaf.

FIRs have been registered under sections 120, 124A, 131 and 153A, which include charges of sedition and conspiracy. (ANI)
