Rain in Abu Dhabi and Dubai after dust alert

[ad_1]

Rain fell across the UAE after an alert was issued on Tuesday amid dusty conditions.

The National Meteorological Centre has shared footage of challenging driving conditions during heavy rains in Dubai and Sharjah.

The Meteorological Centre reported rain in Hatta in Dubai and parts of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain from late morning to early afternoon.

Abu Dhabi Police earlier issued a safety plea to motorists after dusty weather on Tuesday morning caused low visibility.

Drivers were asked to be careful in high winds and sand for the “safety of you and others”.

The National Meteorological Centre issued a similar warning when people woke up to a cloudy day in the UAE.

The Met Centre urged drivers to “slow down and leave space between vehicles” during periods of reduced visibility.

The NCM also said the public should stay away from river valleys and avoid going out to sea during harsh conditions.

The Meteorological Centre issued further warnings for possible dust storms in the next 24 hours.

It said winds could reach 60 mph, helping to kick up dust and sand and affecting visibility.

In its notice, people across the country were told to “watch out” for windy and dusty conditions when outdoors.

Rain was recorded in Al Ain on Tuesday morning and overnight in Fujairah as summer begins to be unstable.

On Monday, people in Ajman reported strong winds and heavy rain in Sharjah.

Thunderstorms are expected in the UAE and Oman over the next few days.

A weather front from Pakistan and northern India is expected to reach Muscat on Tuesday and Dubai and Abu Dhabi by early Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the Oman Meteorological Center warned of rain and possible flooding.

Heavy rain is expected in Fujairah on Tuesday and Wednesday, when temperatures will drop to 29°C.

The UAE National Meteorological Centre said rain and low temperatures are expected to extend to coastal and western areas.

Occasionally light to heavy rain with lightning and thunder is expected in some areas.

Moderate to strong winds can blow up dust, resulting in poor visibility.
