Dubai: Tomorrow to see Saturn and Jupiter on the special deck of the Palm Island-News

[ad_1]

You can also see these planets from the 360-degree observation deck at The View at The Palm on August 20.

Nakheel’s 360-degree observation deck The Palm view now offers a unique opportunity to observe the largest and brightest Saturn and Jupiter on Monday, August 2 and Friday, August 20 from 8pm to 10pm.

This annual phenomenon is known as the “opposition”, and Palm Island Landscape has partnered with Dubai Astronomy Group to give visitors the opportunity to explore the night sky from the highest vantage point on the 52nd floor of the Palm Tower.

In astronomy, opposition occurs when two celestial bodies appear in opposite directions in the sky. A highly anticipated annual event for observing the planet in its clearest form, when the earth is between the sun and the opposing planet. Only the farther planets in the solar system—including Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune—can be in opposition.

Tailored for stargazers and astrophotographers, this is an opportunity to observe the planets in great detail, from the spectacular and complex rings of Saturn to the stripes and swirling atmosphere of Jupiter.

The 60-minute event will first explain this phenomenon, chaired by Hasan Ahmad Al Hariri, CEO of Dubai Astronomy Group, followed by an in-depth Q&A session. Participants can observe Saturn and Jupiter through telescopes, and take images through mobile phones or cameras.

The ticket for Saturn and Jupiter at Opposition is 125 dirhams for adults, 95 dirhams for children aged 4 to 12; children under four are free. It also includes entrance fees to The View at The Palm and a 60-minute astronomy course.

Ongoing stargazing meeting

Visitors can also participate in The View’s 90-minute astronomy course on specific dates from August 6th to 28th to learn more about the solar system and planets, and enjoy stargazing. The fare is 125 dirhams for adults and 95 dirhams for children.

All meetings are limited in numbers and will comply with strict Covid-19 safety regulations, including two-meter social distancing regulations, masks and disinfection procedures.
