UAE Widow Visa: Do I Need a Sponsor for One Year Residency Extension? – information

[ad_1]

KT readers ask, can the visa be renewed?

Posted: Sunday, August 14, 2022, 10:39 am

question: A friend of mine passed away recently. I am helping his family. Can you explain to me what will happen to the visas of his sponsored wife and children? What options do they have to remain in the UAE? I know there is something called a “widow visa”. Can it be renewed at the end of the term?

Reply: Based on your inquiry, if an expat man (husband) dies in the UAE, his wife and children can extend their stay in the country for one year. The extension period begins on the date of his death. The validity period of the child’s UAE residence visa cannot exceed that of the mother.

Therefore, based on the above, your friend’s wife and children can extend their stay in the UAE, provided they can manage their own livelihoods.

According to the official UAE government website, this type of visa can only be renewed once and does not require an alternate sponsor.

how to apply

Widows will need to submit a residence extension application along with the following documents:

• death certificate

• Proof of housing availability

• Proof of the woman’s ability to earn a living

• Health certificates for women and their children over the age of 18

• Emirates ID

• Health Insurance Card, available in some emirates.
