WiSER Pioneers Feel Enriched After Completing 20+ Hours of Education and Skills Training Workshops
Abu Dhabi-based renewable energy company Masdar has empowered 23 talented women between the ages of 25 and 35 to lead sustainable change in their communities and professions.
Over the past four years, including this year’s Women, more than 70 women from 17 countries have graduated from the Women in Sustainability, Environment and Renewable Energy (WiSER) Pioneer Program.
WiSER pioneers feel fulfilled after completing more than 20 hours of educational and skills training workshops and more than 100 hours of one-on-one coaching sessions.
Iman Thani Al Suvedi
Eman Thani Alsuwaidi, Process Engineer, said: “The programme broadened my understanding of the field of expertise, encouraged me to develop new skills and gave me the confidence to continue my career as a sustainable leader.”
Yara Tannuri
Energy consultant Yara Tannoury noted: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to network with like-minded women who share a common interest in sustainability, renewable energy and the environment, which is how important it is to join the programme.”
Sarah Haney
Urban planner Sara Al Hanai said: “Initiatives such as the WiSER platform enable women to play an active role in addressing global sustainability challenges and achieving desired goals.”
Pioneer Farah Al Sayegh emphasized: “The programme has given me the opportunity to learn directly from world-class experts, industry leaders, innovators and change-makers, developing the real-world experience and strong global network I need to make a meaningful difference.”

Process simulation engineer Aya Shiraz Al-Masri said the program has improved her understanding of sustainability.
“By creating a space for young women committed to sustainability, as well as industry experts, to learn from each other, this program has given me the knowledge and skills to advance sustainability in my community and my career.”

Biologist Maria Jose Martin is proud to have had the opportunity to participate in the program.
“The insights we gain on issues of sustainability and gender equality inspire us to grow and innovate for the world today and, more importantly, for the future of the world.”
Dr Lamya Fawwaz, Executive Director of Masdar Brands and Strategic Initiatives and Head of the WiSER Project, said the project empowers future generations of women to be sustainability leaders in their communities, workplaces and around the world, which is critical to achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals important.

The programme is part of Masdar’s wider WiSER programme, which was launched in 2015 during the 70th UN General Assembly to encourage women and girls to take a more active and equal role in the global energy transition, while aligning with the UAE The Strategic Network – Zero Initiative and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
