Senior officials from various departments in Abu Dhabi met on Sunday to ensure coordination and preparation for severe weather conditions.

In a weather alert issued last week, the Abu Dhabi Media Office said the capital was expected to experience volatile weather between Sunday and Thursday. The National Weather Center said the eastern and southern regions will be accompanied by varying intensities of rain, and the low pressure will be extended.

A dust storm swept the country on Sunday, despite heavy rain in five emirates. While health authorities are requiring residents to wear masks to stay away from dust, the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) has issued a code red flood warning for some areas.

The Official Weather Bulletin forecast dust and rain for the next four days.

Al Mazrouei reviewed a report on the role and mandate of emergency response teams, mechanisms to deal with emergencies, crises and disasters across the emirate, and approved plans to ensure the readiness of critical and support teams.

He praised the leadership’s continued guidance, direction and support to strengthen the team’s efforts to protect life and property and coordinate with local and federal-level entities to achieve targeted goals.

Al Mazrouei also stressed the importance of the collaborative efforts of emergency teams, following unified emergency procedures, and improving the ability to handle and respond to emergencies. He also stressed the need to prepare for recovery based on the national emergency ecosystem.

Dr Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Acting Director General of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Centre (ADCMC), said follow-up and support plans are in place to ensure that all necessary resources are available to deal with the severe weather conditions.

He said they were coordinating with various relevant teams from the Municipal and Transport Ministry in different parts of the emirate to ensure the free flow of the valley streams and with all relevant field teams from Al Ain and Al Dafra cities, Red Crescent A coordination meeting will be held between the Authority, Abu Dhabi Waste Management (Tadweer), Ministry of Health – Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Distribution Company to ensure a timely response to all emergencies.

ADCMC will coordinate the efforts of all relevant entities and ensure they are prepared for severe weather conditions.

The center stressed the importance of keeping up to date with the latest weather developments through official channels and channels, and called on the public to follow the instructions and guidance of relevant departments and avoid being in dangerous places.

Representatives from Abu Dhabi Government Media Office, Abu Dhabi Police Department (ADP), Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, Ministry of Municipalities and Transport, Emirates Red Crescent, Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health, Abu Dhabi Ministry of Energy attended the meeting , Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre (Tadweer), National Meteorological Centre and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc).
