Lindsey Pearlman’s cause of death has been confirmed as suicide.
The former “Empire” actress – best known for her roles in “Chicago Justice” and “General Hospital” – was found dead on February 18 near the entrance to Hollywood Boulevard and Runyon Canyon Park at the age of 43 , just days after being reported missing.
Now, the Los Angeles County medical examiner has officially ruled that her cause of death was suicide due to nitrite poisoning.
“Non-toxic levels of lorazepam, metoclopramide and codeine were found in her system,” according to the coroner’s report obtained by People magazine.
Back in February, a spokeswoman for the coroner’s office revealed that despite preliminary examinations, Pearlman’s cause of death had been listed as “postponed”.
Sarah Adalani of the Los Angeles County Connor’s office said at the time: “She was examined by a doctor and the cause of death was deferred.
“The delay means that after the autopsy, the cause of death has not been determined and the forensic medical examiner is requesting more investigation into the death, including further research.”
The actress – who played Karen on the TV series Vicious – is married to producer Vance Smith, who shared on Instagram that he was “heartbroken” after learning of his wife’s death.
He wrote: “The police found Lindsay. She’s gone. I’m so sad. I’ll share more later, but I want to thank everyone for their love and hard work, and ask you to respect her family’s privacy at this time.”
Lindsay’s agent, Michael Chiaverini, said in a statement that he was “deeply saddened” by the loss of his client and expressed the family’s desire for privacy at this time.
He told E! News: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lindsay Pearman today. Their families have asked for privacy as they deal with and grieve during this difficult time.”
