“Critical” Situation in Helmand Province: Afghan Army

General Ajmal Omar Sinwari, spokesman for the Afghan army, said on Sunday that the situation in Rashkar Gah, Helmand Province, is particularly serious, where the Afghan army plans to intercept the Taliban movement and then launch an offensive.

Authorities in Helmand Province stated that the Taliban increased their troops in Laskhar Gah on Sunday, confirming that the insurgents now control the seventh district of the city.

The birthplace of the Taliban in southern Kandahar—as well as Helmand and Herat provinces—has been the center of some fighting.


The United States will launch a new Afghan refugee program: Reuters

A government official and two people familiar with the matter said that the US State Department is expected to announce a new plan to resettle certain Afghans in the United States as refugees.

Three sources, who asked not to be named, told Reuters that the administration of US President Joe Biden (Joe Biden) will launch the so-called second priority refugee program on Monday.

The US State Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
