Abu Dhabi adds 126 new economic activities to ‘Tajer Abu Dhabi’

The Abu Dhabi Business Centre (ADBC), part of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), has announced the addition of 126 new economic activities to the “Tajer Abu Dhabi” (Abu Dhabi Trader) license, which Allows Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) to obtain a trade license without having to work in a physical location or pay three years’ rent for commercial space.

With the addition of 126 new events, the total number of events under this category has increased from 30 to 1,200 since its launch in 2017, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office.

Accordingly, activities under “Tajer Abu Dhabi” account for 29.5% of the total economic activities licensed and regulated by ADDED, which currently stands at 4,062 by the end of 2021.

After the first three years, “Tajer Abu Dhabi” holders are required to own a physical workplace and obtain the necessary approvals in accordance with the rules governing their business.

Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, Executive Director of ADBC, said: “At ADDED, we support MSMEs and start-ups to drive a vibrant economy led by the private sector; it is against this backdrop that the expansion of ‘Tajer Abu Dhabi’ comes Yes, because we strive to enable entrepreneurs to build their businesses and thrive.”

“In the past period, we have noticed an increase in the number of applicants for ‘Tajer Abu Dhabi’. 7,106 new licenses were issued under this category, accounting for 27.9% of the new economic licenses issued by the UAE last year. Since 2017 New licenses for ‘Tajer Abu Dhabi’ issued in 2021 alone account for nearly 50% of all licenses issued under it since its launch in 2019, demonstrating the positive response of entrepreneurs to ADDED’s move to expand business activities.”
