The Asian worker has filed a lawsuit against the company seeking Dh5 million for physical, mental and material damages.
The man said he fell from the roof and suffered serious head and body injuries. The man spent months in hospital recovering and receiving treatment.
A medical report stated that the worker had 40% permanent disability in his skull and brain, facial deformity due to paralysis, unable to close his left eye anymore, 50% loss of vision in his left eye, hearing loss in his left ear, 50%, a broken nose, 100% loss of smell and taste.
The man also suffered from contraction paralysis of his left arm, which left him 50% disabled.
The construction company had earlier been convicted and fined for negligence and failure to provide the necessary safety and security measures to protect workers, causing the man to fall from the warehouse roof. This resulted in him being seriously injured and permanently disabled.
After hearing from both sides, the trial judge ordered the construction company to pay the Asian workers Dh1.2 million for damages.
