A recent advocacy campaign for Abu Dhabi’s Strategy to Combat Addiction on various social media platforms has surpassed 1 million views in its third week of launch.

She noted that strategic activation will go a long way towards reducing the social stigma associated with substance abuse cases and changing the culture in the community around addiction, a disorder that requires immediate intervention, by providing treatment and integrating recovered patients into family and society as a a disease. all.
A plan was developed to launch the strategy in two phases. The first phase includes a series of initiatives including raising social awareness, changing the culture of the addictive disorder in the community, and understanding its nature to provide the necessary support through the family and society.
In addition, an awareness campaign was launched on social media platforms under the slogan “My community is with me”, targeting community members, including the participation of various relevant sectors such as the health sector, education sector, social sector, police and other relevant sectors and Justice Department. The campaign focused on identifying protective factors and the importance of early detection, treatment and aftercare.
A publicity campaign for the strategy was recently launched on social media platforms, reflecting the notable success that has been achieved since its launch.
In the first phase, the task force will also work with the Early Childhood Authority to launch a school-based prevention programme to prevent drug use in school settings in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
At the same time, work with the health sector to initiate primary health care services, define service coverage and referral procedures on a care-level model, and develop and develop the necessary tools to activate services at different levels.
The second phase of strategy implementation will begin in 2023 and end by the end of 2024, with a series of initiatives launched as part of the stakeholder operating plan.
The strategy consists of five pillars: supply reduction (control), prevention, testing and treatment, reintegration, and finally the facilitation pillar, which includes representatives from various entities in the emirate, representing various sectors, all contributing to the comprehensive activation strategy contributed.
They will also work together to develop a policy that ensures the protection of the identity and confidentiality of patient information, initiates a comprehensive case management system, establishes robust procedures for early documentation and monitoring of risk factors to provide appropriate interventions and reduce misuse, and establishes Specialized committees deal with drug abuse and addiction cases.
