Casey Affleck Misses His Brother’s Wedding Due to ‘Parental Obligations’
The 47-year-old actor was a notable absentee on Saturday (8/8/22) when his brother Ben married Jennifer Lopez in Georgia.
Casey’s absence from the ceremony was initially unexplainable – but a source has now revealed to PEOPLE that it was “because of the family, the obligations of parents to be at home”.
The “Manchester by the Sea” star has sons Indiana, 18, and Atticus, 14, and his ex-wife Summer Phoenix. Casey was also spotted with girlfriend Kelly Cowan in Los Angeles on Friday.
Still, many of Ben and Jennifer’s big-name friends attended their highly anticipated wedding, including actor Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barros, as well as director Kevin Smith and actor Jason Muse.
The loving couple — who rekindled their romance last year after getting engaged in 2003 — actually tied the knot for the first time in July in Las Vegas.
Jennifer then announced the news to the world via her newsletter.
She wrote: “Last night we flew to Vegas and lined up for licenses with four other couples who were all on the same trip to the wedding capital of the world. We barely made it to that little white wedding chapel at midnight. They Affectionately drove a few minutes late to let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible that the King himself apparently used (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show up, it would cost an extra fee, and He’s still in bed).”
Jennifer also revealed that she was wearing a dress from an old movie, while Ben was wearing a jacket from his closet for the ceremony.
“We read our vows in the chapel and gave each other rings that we would wear for the rest of our lives,” she said. “In the end, it was the best wedding we could imagine.”
