Schools will maintain early Covid-19 protocols to keep students safe

Private schools in Abu Dhabi will all be accepting students on 29 August as the new term begins after a long summer break.
Students in public schools will also return to campus next Monday to start the new school year. According to the Emirates Schools Agency (ESE), teachers and administrators have reported to schools on the preparations.
The principal of a private school in Abu Dhabi told Khaleej Times that everything is in place to allow students to return to school safely. According to them, the school will maintain the Covid-19 protocol previously issued by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek), including providing all students and staff with a negative 96-hour PCR result on the first day of reporting to the school, and remain green Pass validity period.
The education regulator has yet to communicate any new measures to schools, according to the school principal.

“As of today, no new instructions or protocols have been received from Adek and the Covid-19 protocol previously sent will be followed.”
Khan added that while Covid-19 precautions have been eased to support a return to normality, they will ensure that all staff remain cautious for the complete safety and health of students and other stakeholders.
Anna Pagdiwalla, principal of the Mayoor Private School in Abu Dhabi, said they were eagerly waiting to welcome the new term on campus after the summer break.
“The teachers have arranged a variety of fun and fun activities for the students,” she said. “The entire campus has been sanitized and disinfected. We are looking forward to an exciting new term.”
Adek has yet to issue new Covid-19 protocols for the new school year, which starts on August 29.
Below are the Covid-19 measures for schools from last term. These also apply to nurseries:
– On the first day of reopening, mandatory 96-hour PCR tests for all staff and students are negative.
– Unvaccinated Students: Students 16 years and older must produce a negative PCR test every 7 days.
– Vaccinated students: Students aged 16 and above must have a PCR test every 14 days and show their green status on the Al Hosn App to enter the school. The same testing procedures and requirements apply to those medical exemptions verified on the Al Hosn App.
– Students under 16: PCR test is valid for 30 days.
The Al Hosn Green Pass requirement applies to all school visitors, while unvaccinated visitors will be required to present a negative PCR test result within 48 hours.
– Students in grades 2 and above are required to wear masks indoors, but can take them off outside of school.
– Physical distancing is optional in outdoor spaces.
– Wearing a mask in outdoor spaces is optional.
– All field trips are permitted, but schools must follow precautions for the locations they visit.
– Students of all ages are allowed to participate in all school sports, activities and competitions, but schools must follow risk mitigation controls.
– Do not exceed 90% capacity for on-campus activities and activities (current entry requirements apply).
– School buses can operate at 100% capacity.
As for isolation of close contacts, Adek has previously notified schools to lift isolation requirements, but the following testing requirements still apply:
– For close contact students under 18: No quarantine required, students must be tested on Days 1 and 4.
– For close contacts of students 18 years of age and older, including faculty and staff: No isolation required and must be tested daily for the first five days following close contact with a confirmed case.
