[ad_1]

Elsewhere for fun, events and art this weekend:

Art: “The Sound of the Delta”

The first of three video clips “Delta Voices: Artists in the South Central,” Highlighting the work of sculptor Renata Cassiano Alvarez and painters Vaughn Davis Jr. and John Isiah Walton, exhibited online Wednesday through the Arkansas Museum of Art YouTube channel, youtube.com/c/arkansasmuseumoffinearts. Subsequent “episodes” will debut on August 31st and September 7th. The virtual exhibition will be open indefinitely.

The videos represent the museum’s 2022 edition of the “Delta Exhibition,” which “raises the profile of artists in the region and reflects the changing cultural landscape” since 1958, according to a press release. It has evolved from the Arkansas Art Center’s annual jury exhibition to this collaborative virtual series during the institution’s transformation into the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts. It collaborates with area museums: Alvarez and Davis with the St. Louis Museum of Contemporary Art; Walton’s Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans. Once the museum reopens, it will be a triennial exhibition, now scheduled for spring 2023.

The Arkansas Film Society hosted a screening and panel discussion with artists of “Delta Voices: Artists of the South Central” on August 31st at the Ron Robinson Theater at 100 River Market Ave. in Little Rock. Doors open at 6pm for a pre-screening reception. Admission is free; reservations are encouraged.access arkansascinemasociety.org.
